Lockheed Martin Exec claims P3 model essential for connectivity

Lockheed Martin's C4ISR division head of business development Kimberly Ponders cited public-private partnerships as a key element to cross-system connectivity in an interview with Air Force Technology. Ponders also cited wargames and increased investment as crucial to connecting disparate systems. While speaking in a defense context, Ponders' analysis has implications for other public-sector cybersecurity applications.

South Carolina Public-Private Partnership Addresses Digital Divide

The Economic Development Partnership (EDP), a public-private partnership representing the Aiken, Edgefield, McCormick and Saluda Region of South Carolina, met recently to discuss broadband access. With nearly 12,000 residents in Aiken County lacking access to the Internet, the EDP is now working toward finding solutions that will improve connectivity.

Colorado Smart Cities Lab Coming Thanks to Public-Private Partnership

A public private partnership between the Colorado Smart Cities Alliance and Arrow Electronics, Inc. will result in the launch of the Colorado Open Lab. The Lab will be an Internet of Things (IoT) engineering lab for customer development showcase and innovation collaboration to fast track development of OEM IoT appliances and AI-enhanced applications, according to a news release specifying plans.

AT&T and Los Angeles begin developing Smart Cities Public-Private Partnership

AT&T and the City of Los Angeles are looking to team up to make LA one of the smartest cities in America.

To foster the creation of a Smart City, AT&T and LA are in talks regarding a public-private partnership. With Internet of Things (IoT) technology and support for the deployment of small cell technology, the telecom will work with the city on ways to address the problems that matter most to the people that live, work, and visit there.

P3s seen as Crucial for Expanding Rural Broadband Access in Colorado

During a webinar hosted by the Schools, Health, & Libraries Broadband Coalition, Colorado officials explained the importance of public-private partnerships in expanding broadband access to rural communities. In April 2018, only 77 percent of rural households had access to broadband. Through P3s, the goal is to expand access to 85 percent by the end of 2018, and to 99 percent by 2020.
